The Application Guidelines
The Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation serves to promote and deepen the Bayreuth Festival idea. In order to achieve this goal, it enables talented aspiring musicians, singers or other stage-professionals who are eligible for the Bayreuth Festival as young talent for orchestra or stage to attend several festival performances within the framework of the scholarships awarded.
Normally, the Richard Wagner Scholarship Foundation awards 250 scholarships annually. Primarily eligible to submit nominations are the worldwide Richard Wagner Associations, which are members of the Richard Wagner Verband International e. V., and the Society of Friends of Bayreuth.
Applications for a scholarship should therefore be addressed directly to the local association or another Richard-Wagner association affiliated to the Richard-Wagner Verband International.
A current list of the Richard Wagner Associations in question can be found here.
As a rule, a significant recommendation from a theatre, college of music or comparable academy, university or other suitable proof of qualification must be submitted for an application.
Applicants should be between 18 and a maximum of 35 years old. The scholarship can only be awarded once.
The deadline for the submission of scholarship applications by the Richard Wagner Associations to the Scholarship Foundation usually ends at the beginning of the year for the following festival season.
